Lets Help the Victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan)

We, the Amcham Foundation of the Philippines, the socio-civic arm of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, had just finished our Bohol relief operations for the victims of the 7.2 earthquake that hit the country but we are constrained to appeal again to friends and all people for aid to victims of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).  The aid is for immediate relief of the devastated communities and families who have suffered death and injury and whose homes, personal belongings and livelihood have been blown away by strong winds and swept away by storm surge from the sea.  The typhoon caused catastrophic destruction to Central Philippines and disrupted power and communication and severe damage to infrastructure and farm land.

Described as the worst typhoon that has hit the country, the number of deaths it has caused is feared to be by the thousands.  This typhoon has come just weeks after a 7.2 earthquake hit the Philippines with the epicenter located in Bohol where a few hundred lives were also lost and billions worth of properties had been destroyed.

Currently, people need food, drinking water, clothing, mats and sheets. It will take some time before they can recover. They need HELP. Christmas time is NOW. Let us give them the gift of life and the gift of love.

Just today, heavy rains are forecasted and it is headed toward parts of the areas already suffering from the devastation caused by the earthquake and the recent typhoons.  We need your help to ameliorate the conditions faced by the victims of recent and coming calamities.

AmCham Foundation is currently mobilizing cash and in-kind donations. Needed for in-kind donations are items for waste management, water, sanitation and hygiene kits, ready-to-eat food packs, clothing, kitchen utensils, tents/temporary shelter, blankets, mats, and mosquito nets.
